Healing begins when you stop hiding what hurts you.
It’s so unbelievably tempting to hide your grief.

The problem with that, though is that we are not really dealing with our problems or our grief and grief is like a shadow. It tends to follow us around even when we don’t realize it.
When we stuff it and don’t deal with it and run away from it or hide- then we don’t actually deal with the problems in front of us, and they create more problems within us.
Trauma is stored in the body.
So everything that you have endured through your grief-
Will follow you.

It will become impossible to run away.
Grief is like wildfire.
A shadow that follows you.
We can deal with it slowly and gently in easy ways of tangible journaling, talking to a professional therapist or counselor, coloring, reading grief books, talking to friends about the grief that you’re experiencing and feeling…
The temptation to hide it will be great.
But the future you will thank you.
For taking little tangible steps in the right direction to not hide it, but to face it directly.
You see, grief isn’t a monster.
It’s really, love.
Love.
One of the most powerful things in the universe.
You’re grieving because you love.
What a gift it is to be loved and to love.
Let’s not forget how big of a gift that is.
And let’s honor your special person-
By grieving well.
