Workshops are an intricate part of our support groups because we make space to do something tangible with our grief. We spend time creating something special to honor the ones that have gone before us. Most of These workshops are created by our Founder, Amanda Hartwig who is a Certified Grief SUpport Specialist, Level 1 Trauma Informed Expressive Arts Therapy Facilitator, and pastor. Though these workshops are created with the intention of being specific to child loss, the workshops are adaptable and can be tailored for Support group and workshop use.

Rock Painting Workshop
Rock painting workshop- The attendants were encouraged to paint rocks to honor their beloved's. THey had a choice to donate the rocks for our care package program or keep the rock and do something special like put them in a memorial garden or put them around their town that they live in to brighten someone else's day!

The Broken Bowl Workshop
the broken bowl workshop Is similar to the broken plate but we challenged the group attendants to flip the script. What do we wear on the outisde? What do we let everyone see? How do we look? Are we bright and shiny or are we usually gloomy? And on the inside of the bowl we took time to write out what's close to our hearts and how we feel but don't tend to talk about with others. We also smashed the bowls first to give them a chance to see the beauty of broken things being put back together. Though it's not the same, and it will never be the same, it can still be beautiful.

Creating Random Acts of Kindness to Hand Out to Strangers
Random Acts of Kindness Service workshop helped get the attention off of their grief for a moment and to focus on the good of others by doing random acts of kindness for them. We created many different random acts to hand out all over Wisconsin. This workshop especially helps in the months of November and December.

Letters to Heaven Workshop
Letters to heaven workshop was a timeless opportunity to invite the group attendants to create the most beautiful envelope that they would send to their beloved that has gone before them. They were challenged to make it look unique to them and their special person. Then they were asked to select a piece of designed paper to write a letter to Heaven. They took the letter and attached it to the back of the canvas board.

The Broken Plate Workshop
Group attendants were encouraged to reflect on the inner plate and examine what emotions they have kept at face value. since the top of the plate is something that most people can see, they were encouraged to think about what parts of grief they allow to be public or to show to others. Then the bottom part of the plate, though, rarely seen, we know it's there. They were challenged to think about the feelings and emotions through grief that they have managed to hide.

Missing My Pumpkin Workshop
Missing my pumpkin workshop- October can start to be a heavy month leading into the holidays. Sometimes it just feels nice to honor our special people by doing something that others do. They usually go to pumpkin pathces. We bring the pumpkins to them. They have the opportunity to create something to honor their beloved.

Brain Dumping Workshop
brain dumping workshop - Writing is such a beautiful tool that we can all use to help maneuver through grief. It gets all of those heavy emotions up and out of us and down on paper. Sometimes it helps to have a time limit so that anything that is stored up in your brain can be dumped out on the piece of paper or papers. This is a tangible exercise that anyone can do in the comfort of their home!
